University’s Rifle Team and received
a partial scholarship starting next
year. The Ohio State Rifle team has
14 members and is a co-ed group
with four women and ten men on
it this year. Rifle is a co-ed sport
and the women and men compete
against each other. In December, the
Ohio State Rifle team finished the
fall portion of their NCAA season
posting the second highest score
in program history. She’s looking
forward to attending school in Ohio,
but is concerned about the cold
temperatures.

at the Summer Olympics, she said,
“I’ve been so blessed to come as far
as I have it would just be incredible
to go. I honestly don’t know what I’d
do. It would feel freaking amazing.”

Rhiann suggests getting involved
with Parker County 4H Shooting
Sports. The group has a Facebook
page with contact information and
hosts meetings at the Parker County
Sportsman’s Club. “That’s how I got
started actually,” she said.

She said she’s been getting
weather updates from her future
team mates, “Many members of
the team have been texting me that
it’s six degrees this morning,” said
Rhiann. There are only 23 Division I
schools who have NCAA rifle teams.
The closest rifle team is TCU in Fort
Worth that competes with the Ohio
State team. Rhiann’s friend who got
her interested in the sport, Mindy
Miles is a sophomore member of the
TCU rifle team. She is currently in
third place in the Olympic standings
