On October 1, Medical City Weatherford, formerly Weatherford Regional Medical Center, joined the Medial City Healthcare family. Medical City Healthcare is one of the North Texas region’s largest and most comprehensive healthcare providers and includes 14 hospitals, more than 4,400 active physicians and 17,000 employees in North Texas. Three Medical City Healthcare hospitals are accredited comprehensive stroke centers, five hospitals hold the prestigious Magnet Recognized ®  status from the American Nurses Association, and six have been recognized by The Joint Commission as Top Performers in the nation. Part of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), the nation’s leading provider of quality healthcare services with 165 hospitals in the United States and England. “Our team is excited about what the future brings for us in Weatherford,” says David Orcutt, CEO of Medical City Weatherford. “As part of the Medical City Healthcare family, we are part of a local and comprehensive network with added resources and support to elevate the standard of care for all of our patients. We will continue to focus on the high quality, patient centered compassionate care that our patients deserve.” Over the past ten years, the hospital has made many advancements to meet the needs of the growing community. The facility has added 28 new physicians to the medical staff, completed maternal newborn department renovations and started an internal medicine residency program in part- nership with the University of North Texas Health Science Center. In 2016, a second cardiac catheterization lab oratory was added to treat and care for heart attack patients quickly. The faster patients get access to life-threatening interventions, the greater the chances of survival and maxi- mum recovery with minimal heart damage. 44 A commitment to quality care has long been a primary focus of the hospital. The facility was one of 904 hospitals out of more than 4,500 nationwide to be rated a four-star hospital by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on its Hospital Compare website (www.medicare.gov/ hospitalcompare). The recognition was granted for exceeding the national average in timeliness of care for maintaining ER wait times below the national average and lowering hospital readmissions. The hospital also received higher than the national average ratings on overall safety and effectiveness of care. Most recently, Medical City Weatherford received recognition by the National Organization of State Office of Rural Health (NOSORH) for overall excellence in outcome, reflecting top quartile performance among all rural hospitals in the nation. “We’ve made some huge strides over the past decade and we expect to do even more as part of Medical City Healthcare,” adds Orcutt. “As part of this network, another great positive for our patients is access. If one of our patients needs a higher level of specialty care, we are now part of a system that provides world-class medical providers across a wide spectrum of services.” At the core, Medical City Healthcare hospitals are united in a shared mission and commitment to the care and improvement of human life.
