Cafe 23:5 — Great Coffee and Food of Biblical Proportions
For A Fresh Approach
BY THE WEATHERFORD FOODIE
I
ant surprise. The quality was reflec-
tive of all the food and was most like-
ly the cause of all the smiles, the goal
of owner Alexandria (Alex) Deapen.
I genuinely enjoyed both my
meals at Café 23:5 and will be a
frequent customer.
The prices won’t break the bank
and you won’t be disappointed!

chips, mayonnaise-mustard or pesto. I
was given so many choices to ensure
that I received exactly what I wanted,
exactly how I like it.
My companion chose to try a
blueberry white iced tea and a tuna
salad sandwich, again with plenty of
options.
We were given our drinks and
chose a table. Soon our lunch was
delivered to us; both plates were
flanked by a pickle spear and my
companion’s had fresh purple grapes
and a fresh strawberry.
The sandwiches were as tasty as
they looked, which led to an embar-
rassing chorus of yummy sounds. We
expected it to be good, but it was
way better than we had expected.
My companion commented that
the tuna was extraordinarily good
— so much better than those regular
tuna salad sandwiches that are made
using canned tuna.
All around, Café 23:5 was a pleas-
wanted to try out a new business
at The Shops at Willow Park, and
located on the western end of the
center is Café 23:5. From the outside,
I found easy parking and a drive-thru
window for those in need of legal
stimulants on the run. Since the café
is located very near the Texas Health
Outpatient Center, probably inten-
tionally, it lends itself to numerous
and easy coffee runs for staff and
family members of patients.
Customers enter through the glass
door and you are struck by the attrac-
tive gray-washed wood flooring and
light, airy atmosphere.
As you approach the counter you
can see the selection of tables and
booths, each equipped with a double
electric outlet between them for
powering up your favorite device.
The prep area is spotless, clean
and staffed by several smiling faces
eager to make you happy.
There are two glass display cases
to represent the available food. I first
went solo for breakfast and enjoyed a
freshly made café latte with hazelnut
stirred and a toasted plain bagel with
cream cheese.
The latte was hot, stirred and had
just the right hint of hazelnut flavor
(liquid sunshine). The bagel was well-
toasted and not at all burned, even
on the edges, served with an ample
amount of cream cheese.
As I enjoyed my breakfast, I saw
groups of moms meeting for coffee
talk, business people having meet-
ings, students studying and using the
free, lightning-fast Wi-Fi; all had a
smile in common.
The following day I returned
with a companion for lunch. Again
I ordered a hot latte. For lunch, I
requested a ham and cheese sand-
wich, which opened the door to a
myriad of choices: type of ham, type
of cheese, type of bread, type of
