Planning Long-Anticipated Autumn Wedding BY CRYSTAL BROWN PHOTOS BY MEGAN PARKS M y wedding is next month, and I haven’t even stepped foot inside a bridal shop. Many people have asked if I purchased an authentic vintage gown, but no. I did look. For years, actually. All of the wearable gowns from the 1930s and early 1940s, my vintage sweet spot, fall into three categories: too simple, too small, or perfectly extravagant with a five-figure price tag. John and I have known each other going on 15 years and have been a couple for an undetermined number of recent years (it was complicated). During that time, we attended several weddings together and, on the way home, we would discuss the aspects we liked about each wedding and what we’d do differently. When he proposed on Aug. 7 of last year, we already had a firm grasp of what we wanted for our wedding, and I felt justified in actually looking for a dress to purchase. Within a month, I found a dress on Etsy that I knew was 65
