Parker County Today August 2016 - Page 91

In Loving Memory Janifer Bangert Barton, 65, a Weatherford resident since 1980. She was a joyful community servant who left this earth peacefully, June 24, 2016, after a long illness. Jan’s legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren, who lovingly called her ‘Nana’. She had a great compassion for people in need and friends say she impacted many lives through her acts of kindness and caring. She was a business owner for years and served as a councilwoman for the City of Weatherford from May 2003 to May 2012. Her love for Weatherford inspired her to serve on Weatherford’s Parks and Recreation Board, Transportation Advisory Board and the Citizens Capital Advisory Committee. She also served as Parker County Republican Precinct Chair. Jan was a vital part of Bush Legacy Republican Women of Weatherford, a member of Beta Sigma Pi of Weatherford, and Board Member Weatherford ISD Education Foundation. Jan also had a great (sometimes loud) passion for her Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, as well as NASCAR. Jan was a dedicated Republican, who worked tirelessly on many campaigns locally and across the nation. She traveled to Florida with the “Texas Strike Force” for President George W. Bush. She later received an invitation to dinner at the White House with the President and Laura Bush, it was one of many highlights in her life. Jan was often part of the “Welcome Home” league for military personnel at D/FW airport. Jan was born in Coffeeville, KS to Garner (GW) and Helen Jacobs Bangert and lived in Naperville, Il. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Dan Barton. Survivors include daughter Michelle Breyne Hernandez, son Mathew Breyne, Step-Daughter Dawn Baldwin and husband Cary, step-son Danny and Jennifer Barton. Grandchildren include Hayden, Gavin and Ella Hernandez, Logan and Grant Baldwin, Tyler and Travis Barton and, of course, Gabby, her fur-baby as well as numerous friends across the country. Parker County will never forget you. Jan Bangert Barton
