Irvin’s “Positively Parker County” continued from page 32 most beautiful gardens in the nation. Since it was established, more than 500 brides have chosen to exchange their vows at Clark Gardens. All six weddings of the Clark’s grandchildren have taken place in the gardens. Clark Gardens was also the setting for Deborah Clark’s second wedding, in 1991, when she married Emry Birdwell, of the Birdwell ranching family. When the most recent of the Clark family nuptials took place, joining bride Ashley Brown in marriage to Kyle Birdwell (Deborah’s son) on Saturday, June 25, 2016; PCT felt that taking the family’s photo would be the perfect representation of the Clark family and the garden they all so love. The entire Clark family was present with the exception of Clark Montgomery, his wife Jessica and baby daughter Vivian. Clark was in training, because he had just been selected for the Eventing team, representing the United States in the 2016 Summer Olympics and was in team training beginning June 15th. Clark is Rio-bound. Nestled down a treeshaded, quiet country road between Weatherford and Mineral Wells is Clark Gardens. It still flourishes under the nurturing eye of the Clark’s patriarch Max Clark, who is now 88 and works in the garden every day. He lost his beloved wife Billie to Alzheimers in the autumn of 2012. Determined to honor her memory and to help fight the battle against the disease that claimed her, the Clark family has adopted Alzheimers Association, North Central Texas Chapter, The Billie Clark Fund. All of the funds raised are used to enhance assistance, support and education for rural North Central Texas, Parker County.
