he tiny house craze has been growing with HGTV’s Tiny House
and the villages popping up all over the country; we have our
first registered tiny house in Parker County, thanks to Sam and Lynsi
Underwood.
Sam had worked in construction nearly his entire life, but in the
last few years he and his wife Lynsi decided to do something a little
different. “We love the tiny house movement,” Sam said. “So we
decided to build one. We did all the work ourselves.” Sam quit his
job and he and Lynsi work together on their own projects.
Construction on their first tiny house started in September of
2014, and with the assistance of Sam’s brother, Daniel Underwood,
it was completed in June of 2016. “The outside was done in
September of 2014 and we let it sit for about a year and a half before
we finished it completely,” Sam said. “In total the work took only
about four months to do.”
Daniel helped build the house and was just as happy with it as
his brother. “Once it was done it was beautiful,” Daniel said. “My
brother is slightly OCD and I knew he’d be picky with the details.
But he did a great job.” He also said if the Underwood’s do another
house he’ll be more than happy to help again. “The house was
something he’d been wanting to do for a while, and it was something
I could help them with. I really enjoyed the project and helping him.
He’s my brother, that’s what we do.”
