Martino said this was one of “the hardest times I had, because I didn’t quite know what to do with the Eagle Scouts. I thought how am I going to challenge them?” Troop 76 is honored to have six troopassociated adults earn the coveted Silver Beaver award, Martino and the late Dr. Jack Eidson among them. According to the Boy Scouts of America, “The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the scouting program and perform community service through hard work, selfsacrifice, dedication and many years of service.” Approximately 90 Eagle Scouts have come through Troop 76 over the years, many of these also members of Grace First Presbyterian. The Eidson family, long-time members of the church, has the distinction of saying that seven of their family members have earned the rank of Eagle Scout: Jack, Mark, Jon, Scott, Weston, Beau and Barrett. The troop’s two newest Eagle Scouts are Connor Mackenzie and Ethan Williams, who both earned their eagle ranks this summer, Connor in June and Ethan in July.
