Where Every Day , ‘ Is Eat Like a Pirate Day ’ Tex-Pi ( Short For Texas-Pirate ) Cuisine Served From the Portholes of Fun

Driving around Lake Weatherford ,
I came upon Lake Weatherford Marina and the restaurant that is the centerpiece of fun offered in the area . Guests enter through the large wooden doors with round windows that resemble portholes . As you walk in , you pass by a bar to your left and a kitchen to your right .
I immediately noticed how clean everything appeared ( like someone just swabbed the deck , along with everything else ) as I walked ahead to select a table .
Diners can choose to sit at either one of the 11 tables inside or on the large covered deck outside flanked by two American flags . Both offer an outstanding view of Lake Weatherford .
Most weekends Shipwrecked offers live music on the patio . The décor is all nautical with an emphasis on Texas and very interesting to look at while the server delivers up your drink of choice ( they have an excellent selection of Texas-made beers ). The two large flat-screen televisions guarantee constant activity for your viewing pleasure , and I chuckled when I saw a list of excuses to tell your spouse while you enjoy a cocktail with friends .
The single-page menu lists a variety of appetizers and several entrees to choose from , including specialty drinks . I chose to have the fish dinner with battered cod and fries . Other options include chicken of the land — chicken tenders or grilled chicken with honey mustard , blue cheese , ranch or a special boom boom sauce — or a fried shrimp dinner . They also have what is touted as “ The Best Burger on the Lake ,” onethird pound of Wagyu beef served the way you like it with their special bun and seasoned fries . They also offer shrimp , cod or catfish po ’ boy sandwiches , which I look forward to tasting . The fish and fries came out promptly along with hush puppies .
The fish was cooked well and so hot I had to wait a few minutes to eat it , so I ate some seasoned fries , which were not cut like traditional fries , but the spiral slice provided for a more substantial potato and made them taste even better than regular French fries . Both were very tasty and went perfectly with my Texas beer ( Billy Jenkins Bock from Wild Acre Brewing ).
For dessert you can choose between deep fried Twinkies — two Twinkies fried , sprinkled with
powdered sugar and drizzled with chocolate or raspberry sauce — or buttermilk or key lime pie .
Owned by a federal marshal , this is what you want to find after a long day on the lake . Whether you just want to cool off and relax in the shade after a day in the sun with a cold beverage , or meet friends for a good time , this is your place . I will be returning for a relaxing time and a solid meal soon .
