PCT : How did you get into your occupation ? KR : It was completely led by God ! I was going through a divorce and spent part of the summer with my mom and three children in Colorado . One day , I went for a long walk and stopped on the top of a mountain to pray , “ now what ? What do I do with my life ?” The words were loud and clear , TEACH YOGA ! I laughed at first because it came out of nowhere . But , I listened and I am so happy I did , having taught now to over twenty thousand students . I found my passion , I found my purpose , and I have a very fulfilling life .
PCT : What is your favorite novel ? KR : One favorite through a friend from Montana mailed to me when I was living in Malibu . I grew up in Montana and they thought I could use a good western read because I was a bit homesick . The book was Larry McMurtry ’ s , “ Lonesome Dove .”
PCT : What do you do to decompress ?
KR : Of course yoga and meditation ! Being outside , in nature , and the smell of my horses .
PCT : What is something people don ’ t know about you ? KR : Being in the public eye , and with my profession , I ’ m pretty much an open book . The saying that comes to mind is , “ live your life as if anyone could read your journal ,”
PCT : What would you most like to be remembered for ? KR : Being a great mother . What matters most to me is how my three children remember me . There is a saying by Gandhi painted in big letters on the side of Indigo Yoga , the studio I teach at , and it says , “ Actions Express Priorities .” I want my children to know that they came first in my life , that they were seen , heard and most of all , loved .
PCT : What is your impact to Parker County ? KR : I do believe in leading a life of giving , and have learned that giving of time is as valuable , if not more so , than money . I ’ ve learned that making an impact not only in your community , but life in general usually isn ’ t big , grand things , rather , small , subtle ones , and being on the forefront of the health and mindfulness movement in this area . I hope that I have at least helped many live their most optimal healthy life .
PCT : What is your definition of the best day ever ? KR : Nature , Friends , Family ! Alone time in nature . Yoga with friends . Great food and cards or board games with my family .
PCT : What ’ s the best piece of advice you would give ? KR : Life is what you make it . Period .
PCT : What is the most interesting thing you have ever done in your life ? KR : Without a doubt , travel ! I feel fortunate to have seen so many beautiful places in my life , having travelled to 19 countries and every state in the USA except two . I ’ ve lived by the motto , “ Go as far as you can see , for when you get there , you will be able to see further .”
