What makes point guard Ryan Ellisor stand out is his dedication to basketball , both at Weatherford Christian School and during his free time along with his character on and off the court .

Ellisor , a senior , has been attending WCS since the seventh grade . He joined the varsity team when he was only in the eighth grade , though his love for the sport began at the early age of 3 . He started playing for a recreational team when he began the second grade .
“ There is even a picture of me holding a basketball while still in diapers ,” Ellisor recalls .
His hard work is continuous , going beyond regularly scheduled practices and games , putting in up to four hours a day when he doesn ’ t have school events or other commitments going on . The best piece of advice he ’ s ever received was from WCS ’ s football coach , Stephen Cox : “ There is enough talent to go around , but if you do not have a good attitude for that talent , then that talent is wasted .”
This is something he tries to keep in mind anytime he is with his team . He leads by example now as the varsity team captain , where he guides a team filled with underclassmen . His favorite memory of high school basketball was the team winning their very first home game ever , as the Greg Welch Gym was completed during his junior year . His goals for the immediate future are to hopefully get a chance to play basketball at the highest level he possibly can , whether that be college or beyond , and eventually to become a coach to teach other kids what he has been taught through the sport .
“ Basketball is like a little vacation for me when I ’ m on the court . [ Basketball ] helps me with the stresses and problems that may come up with college ,” Ellisor said . “ If it could help with some of my college expenses , that would be great , but I know that there is a life beyond the court .”
On average , Ellisor scores about 17 points and 14 rebounds per game , along with two tripledoubles so far this season . As for his awards and accomplishments throughout his high school career , Ryan has received multiple All-District and All-State awards the past couple of years , along with winning the MVP award for his team for the last two seasons .
Besides his basketball accomplishments , Ellisor also helps lead WCS ’ s weekly chapels , has played football for the past two years , and was crowned homecoming king by his peers during the fall . In his final semester of high school , Ellisor hopes to leave his legacy to his peers as he plays his final season for his team and moves on to his next challenge .
