Useful Information Breaktime A Fifteen minute breaktime is taken by children in a morning and for Early Years and KS1 a breaktime is also given in the afternoon. A piece of fruit is provided daily, free of charge, for children up to class 2 but parents are asked to provide a healthy snack for the afternoon. From Class 3 upwards children are asked to bring in a healthy snack for their morning break. Lunchtime School breaks for dinner at 12pm to 1pm. We discourage parents taking children home for lunch as we feel it is in the best interest of the child to eat with friends and use their playtime to gain good relations with other children. Children can bring their own healthy lunchbox or have a healthy and balanced meal provided by school. Information on the school menu and charges is available from school. We encourage all parents/carers eligible for free school meals to claim by obtaining an application form from the school office. Payment for meals should be sent into school in a clearly labelled envelope and handed to the class teacher on a Monday morning. A weeks’ notice is required by school when a child changes their lunchtime arrangement. Meals prepared in school conform to the Dfe food standards regulations and conform to allergen restrictions set out in the ‘School Food Plan’ (January 2015). Children can choose their lunchtime meal on arriving at school using the class interactive whiteboard or log-on details can be provided for parents and children to choose meals together at home. School Milk Every child under the age of 5 is entitled to free milk and all children over the age of 5 can order milk at a small charge. Letters are sent to parents giving the opportunity to order milk. School have filtered cold water around school and every child is required to bring in a water bottle which can be refilled during the school day. Please note that only water can be drunk in class and only plastic bottles/cartons containing dilute squash, fruit juice or water are allowed in lunchboxes. We do not allow children to bring in fizzy drinks. Keeping our parents/carers informed School is able to text parents/cares to give information and reminders which has proved an extremely valuable communication tool. Regular school bulletins are sent out with every child giving information on forthcoming events. A full report on your child’s progress is given at the end of the school year and we have three parent consultations each year. ~ 15 ~
