Procedures Complaints Procedure We pride ourselves on good home/school relationship and we hope that, by working together, we can solve any problems that may arise concerning your child’s education, behaviour or welfare. In the first instance any concerns parents have should be discussed informally with the class teacher and/or Phase Leader. This can be done by arranging with the school office a convenient time for both you and staff to meet. If the concern is not resolved, parents may raise the matter with the Deputy Headteacher, followed by the Headteacher. If the matter remains unresolved the Chair of Governors should be contacted. A complainant who is still dissatisfied after these channels have been exhausted will be able to complain to the Secretary of State for Education. More details regarding the school policy on Complaints Procedure can be obtained from the school office. Attendance Procedure At Park Hill Primary we strive to give our children the best education and opportunities to help them realise their potential. To help us achieve this we believe good attendance and punctuality are vital to the progress of their education. Every parent/carer is expected to keep school informed when and why their child is absent and this is done by leaving a message on our school answer phone system. If school does not receive a call reporting a child’s absence a call will be made or text message sent to parents/guardians after registers have been taken. In line with Government policy no holiday requests in term-time are authorised. For further information on attendance please contact school to speak with the Senior Attendance Officer or to see a copy of the ‘Attendance Policy’ which is published on the school website. Behaviour Policy We aim to promote good behaviour in our children at all times and to show respect for and consideration towards others. Therefore a set of clear rules is necessary so that all know exactly what is encouraged. Class Rules are displayed in every classroom and the children know what is expected of them. The rules are backed by appropriate sanctions and rewards and a great emphasis is placed on the positive aspect in dealing with children’s behaviour. If disciplinary problems do arise with a child then parental involvement and co-operation is sought at an early stage rather than a last resort. We have a behaviour policy which is available to see by contacting school. Welfare of Children Care and welfare of children is undertaken by the class teacher to whom problems should be addressed. Parents may see the Head Teacher or Deputy Headteacher should they feel the need to discuss any problems relating to welfare. On admission to the school, parents are asked to provide information about their child that will be pertinent to the needs of the child e.g. health, contact details, previous school (if any), doctor’s name. There are fully trained first-aiders on the staff. It is the parents’ responsibility to administer medication during the school day other than inhalers or medication for hay fever. Medicines are not allowed in school for the safety of all children. Parents are encouraged to advise school of any changes to their child’s general health. If your child becomes ill during the school day they will be seen by a qualified first aider and we will use the priority contact numbers given if your child is not well enough to stay at school and needs to be sent home. ~ 14 ~
