(Classes 1 and 2) upto age 7 years old and the Juniors, Key Stage 2 (Classes 3 to 6)
from 7 years upto 11 years old.
We deliver lessons in a creative way to engage children of all abilities using different
teaching and learning methods. We have an ICT suite and laptop trolley available to
children to further enhance their learning of computer technology.
Key Stage testing takes place each year in May for Year 2 and Year 6 pupils and
papers are set on the core Subjects Mathematics and English. Science test papers
are done by Year 6 if the school is chosen by the Department of Education. A brief
description of the Core subjects is as follows:
Mathematics :
At the end of Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils are tested in maths skills with a written paper
and mental arithmetic testing.
English :
At the end of Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils are tested in Reading, Grammar,
Punctuation, Spelling and Writing.
Science :
Children love to know about the world and all things in it and the National curriculum
enables us to teach children about materials, energy, light and sound and observe
human, plants and animals. Experiments and study in class encourage analytical
skills and rational thinking and self-confidence comes from contributing to group
and class discussion.
