Reel Fun , Real Change
Imagine traversing through a lush , magical virtual rainforest teeming with lurking tigers and tapirs that come alive before your very eyes . Art-enthusiasts will get to immerse themselves and effect real-world change using nothing but interactive technology and their imagination at the latest permanent feature by the ArtScience Museum , ‘ Into the Wild : An Immersive Virtual Adventure ’.
The brainchild of local leading filmmaker Brian Gothong Tan , in collaboration with Google , Lenovo and WWF , over 10,000 square metre of the museum ’ s premises will be transformed into a digital paradise , which visitors can explore using a smartphone device . Greeting them will be the key residents of the Southeast Asian rainforest , where they can learn about the threats to their natural habitats . Beginning from Basement 2 , the virtual reality adventure will take them up to Level 4 , where they can plant a virtual tree and make a pledge to WWF . For each pledge and virtual tree planted , a real tree will be planted in one of the last pristine rainforests in Sumatra .
By combining a state-of-the-art augmented reality experience with a conservation call for the protection of our natural environment , Into the Wild transcends the world of static entertainment and allows visitors to play an active role in enacting change .
