CCS Graduation Rate Continues To Improve; Other Accountability Data Released The graduation rate for students in Cabarrus County Schools continues its upward climb, inching closer to 90 percent. The four-year cohort graduation rate for the 2013-2014 school year is 88.1, according to data released by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The following chart outlines the six-year graduation rate trajectory. Results show that nearly 60 percent of CCS students scored proficient on the EOGs and more than 60 percent of students scored proficient on the EOCs. Additionally, students in grades 3-12 outperformed the state on both EOGs and EOCs. Other EOG and EOC data are included in the charts below. Those results show that 60 percent (23 schools) of all CCS schools either Met or Exceeded academic growth targets for students. Nash Named Assistant Principal of the Year Sue Nash, assistant principal of instruction at A.T. Allen Elementary School, has been selected as the 2014-2015 Assistant Principal of the Year for Cabarrus County Schools. The announcement was made on Oct. 7th at the Education Center. Nash has served as assistant principal of instruction at A.T. Allen since 2010, where her responsibilities include organizing, overseeing and managing the strategic implementation of Balanced Literacy in grades K-5, collaborating and coaching lead teachers in supporting classroom teachers through staff development, and providing both district staff development and school-level staff development focused on current initiatives. Prior to joining A.T. Allen, Nash served as assistant principal of instruction at Coltrane-Webb Elementary School. She began her career in Cabarrus County Schools in 2000 as an exceptional children’s teacher at Weddington Hills Elementary School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in special education and a master’s degree in school administration from Western Carolina University. Nash also is a National Board Certified Teacher. CCS assistant principals nominate candidates among their ranks for the Assistant Principal of the Year Award based on a set of criteria.
