The top school leader is… Ridge Road Middle’s Jametta Tanner named CMS principal of the year Jametta MartinTanner, principal at Ridge Road Middle, has been named the CharlotteMecklenburg Schools 2014-2015 Principal of the Year. There were eight other finalists: Ivy Gill of Sedgefield Elementary in the Central Learning Community; Amy Dellinger of Independence High in the East Learning Community; Raymond Barnes of Druid Hills Academy part of Project Leadership & Investment For Transformation; Angela Grant of Winterfield Elementary in the Northeast Garinger Learning Community; Tisha Greene of Hidden Valley Elementary in the Northeast Vance Learning Community; Jamie Brooks of Community House Middle in the South Learning Community; Gwen Shannon Carmen of Westerly Hills Academy in the West Harding Learning Community, and Carmen Concepcion of Oaklawn Language Academy in the West Mecklenburg Learning Community. Martin-Tanner has been with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 17 years and has been principal at Ridge Road since 2009. Previously, she was a principal at Hawthorne High, assistant principal at Hopewell High and J.M. Alexander Middle and an assistant principal and special populations coordinator at Vance High.
