Teacher recruitment weekend
We are excited
at Rowan-Salisbury
Schools to be on the
move in attracting
and employing
teachers in our
incredible district.
As defined in our
strategic plan,
recruiting and
retaining qualified
employees is a
system priority.
It was recently
announced that,
through the
generosity of local
philanthropist Fred Stanback and in partnership with Catawba College, we
will be offering a tuition-free opportunity for approximately 20 teachers to
complete a masters in education degree at Catawba College.
As we continue on this forward movement, our most recent and
immediate focus is to attract highly qualified math, science, and EC
teachers to our innovative district in a unique approach. Rowan-Salisbury
administrators are establishing partnerships with 47 universities across
North Carolina and we are sharing with them the extraordinary teaching and
learning transformations that are happening every day in our classrooms.
The staff at the Rowan-Salisbury Schools are making dramatic changes
and investments in the education of our students. We invited future highly
qualified teacher graduates in the areas of math, science, and EC to come
visit our schools and experience our community’s unique arts, parks,
dining and theaters during the last weekend in February. This innovative

recruitment weekend was also made possible through the generosity of Fred
Stanback.
The weekend agenda included visiting district schools, dinning at local
restaurants, viewing a play at the Lee Street Theater, and visiting the Lazy
5 Ranch. We are excited about hosting this first-time event and we are sure
that the student-teachers not only enjoyed their weekend experience, but are
eager to join our Rowan-Salisbury family.
