Dr. Kevin Plue named Principal of the Year, Dr. Brian Patience named Assistant Principal of the Year
that and to all the people and places where I’ve been. Thank
you so much, I’m humbled.”
Plue received a certificate and a plaque. He was also
presented $1,000 from the Union County Education
Foundation to be used at his school for whatever project he
deems necessary.
There were three assistant principal candidates in the
running for the top spot: Dr. Brian Patience (Porter Ridge
Middle), Pascale Glenn (Sun Valley Middle), and Michelle Gray
(East Union Middle).
After being named, Patience thanked the principals he has
worked with, Tim Conner, Dr. Bashawn Harris and Lee Casey
Jr. and the peers who nominated him.
“Thank you for this honor,” Patience said. “It means a
great deal. I really appreciate it. I’ll continue to be the best
that I can be for Union County Public Schools.”
UCPS Superintendent Dr. Mary Ellis closed out the
luncheon with final remarks, congratulating the winners and
the finalists.
“You all rock,” Ellis said. “You know the difference you make
in children’s lives. And to all of you in this room, you make
a difference every day. As long as you and I continue to put
children first, Union County Public Schools will continue to be
among the top, not just in North Carolina, but in the United
States.”
Plue will now go on to compete for the regional top
principal title.
