Porter Ridge High student is Bank of NC athlete of the month
Bank of North Carolina
awarded its first student
athlete award to Sarah Welch
of Porter Ridge High on
Friday, Sept. 25. In honor of
Sarah’s recognition, the school
received a $250 check for its
athletic department. Sarah
Welch Sarah was recognized
for her academic achievements
and accomplishments on
the volleyball court. She is a
four-year varsity starter on
the volleyball team and leads
the team in assists with 262.
Sarah has a 4.91 GPA and is
ranked in the top fifth of her
class. In addition to playing
sports, she is president of
the Interact Service Club,
a member of the National
Honor Society and Student
Government Associations. She
also volunteers at Matthews
Medical Center.
