Rorie takes state NCAEOP Administrator of the Year title
The North Carolina Association of Education Office Professionals has
chosen Dr. Lillian Rorie as the 2013-14 Katrina Miller Administrator of the Year.
Rorie, the Union County Public Schools Director of Human Resources
Support Services, was recognized March 27, 2014, at the state NCAEOP
conference in Greensboro.
In one of the nomination letters, Dr. Rorie was recognized for supporting
and encouraging her staff to attend workshops, participate in meetings and
get involved in UCAEOP.
“Over the years, she has supported members of her staff who have held
leadership roles on District level, giving them time away from their duties
to participate in the events of the district,” the letter said. “She has shown
support of their achievements by attending the functions on the district and
state level.”
It noted that Rorie recognized that every staff member makes an
important contribution to the educational system.
Rorie won at the state level after having been chosen the Union County
Association of Education Office Professionals Administrator of the Year last
year and then went on to be the NCAEOP District Seven winner of the same title.
Rorie, who began her career with UCPS in 1979, is known for her
philosophy of always treating others with respect and dignity, and is
frequently heard telling her staff to always “do the right thing.”
Other awards she has received include the Women of Excellence
Community Service Award, the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Community Doves
Service and Leadership Award and the HOLLA (Helping Our Loved Ones
Learn and Achieve) 2013 Community Impact Award.
