NC School Performance Grades released, most Union County Public Schools earned A or B

Teachers and students worked hard to
improve grades.

North Carolina released its first School
Performance Grades on Thursday, Feb. 5. Based
on state measures, out of the 52 schools that
were scored in Union County Public Schools, 44
earned a grade of A, B or C.
Thirty four (65.4 percent) of the schools
earned an A or B. There were no F letter
grades in UCPS. Two schools, Wolfe and South

Providence, were not graded because they do
not fit the NC Performance Grades model.
The Schools Performance Grades reflect
student performance during the 2013-14 school
year.
“A school’s performance can be measured
in many ways,” said Dr. Ellis, superintendent
of Union County Public Schools. “These grades
represent an increase in our graduation rate,
academic growth across the county and a
testament to the quality instruction that is
happening in our classrooms.
