Kensington Elementary teacher named November ‘Hometown Hero’
Kensington Elementary’s Susan Glasheen was the
Hometown Hero for November.
Glasheen was honored at a special celebration
on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in her classroom. She and her
students were quietly working on an assignment when
school administrators and representatives from Charles G.
Monnett III and Associates and Domino’s Pizza interrupted
with the announcement.
Glasheen just paused for a few minutes in disbelief.
“This is such an honor,” said the second-grade teacher.
“I can’t believe I won.”
Each month the law firm honors teachers in
Mecklenburg, Lincoln, Catawba, Iredell, Cabarrus and
Union counties for their service in public education.
Glasheen has been teaching for 14 years. She has been
working at Kensington Elementary for three years.
“I love being with the kids and watching them learn,”
she said. “They are just fun kids.”
