Wesley Chapel Elementary students show spirit of the holidays to East Elementary students About 30 Wesley Chapel Elementary School students brought some holiday cheer to hundreds of East Elementary School students who will sleep warmer tonight because of it. The Wesley Chapel students brought new pajamas to each of the East Elementary’s 556 students Monday, Dec. 15, 2014. Plus, each student and all the staff at East Elementary received a T-shirt specially designed for their school. Wesley Chapel Elementary principal Dr. Wendy Gravely said the pajama project was a school-wide effort that involved her staff, students, parents, the school’s booster club, Boosterthon, and the school’s Parent Teacher Organization. “Parents and staff donated the pajamas, and parents donated the juice boxes and cookies for the class parties,” Gravely said. “I’m proud of our parents, staff and our students.” Camryn Banks, 9, a fourth grader from Wesley Chapel Elementary, said it’s important for people to share with those less fortunate. “You should just share what you have with others,” said Camryn, the daughter of Angela and Jason Banks. “It’s important. Some kids don’t feel happy on Christmas and everybody should feel happy at Christmas.” East Elementary principal Denny Ferguson said he was very grateful for the amazing kindness. “It’s a great opportunity for students to model what this season is all about,” Ferguson said. “It’s great how Wesley Chapel has obviously engaged their parents. I see the excitement, the love and the joy on the students’ faces from Wesley Chapel. Part of what’s developing amazing communities here in Union County is that our kids are engaged in showing care, love and support to their own Wesley Chapel Elementary principal peers.” Wendy Gravely shows students at East Elementary the T-shirts designed Wesley Chapel Elementary School and East Elementary for them by her school. The T-shirt School have something very special in common – their is being worn by Wesley Chapel’s school mascots are both the eagle. Wesley Chapel’s mascot, mascot, Excel the Eagle. Excel the Eagle, was also on hand today to help in the distribute gifts. “We are deeply thankful to them for making this partnership between the schools and supporting us in this way,” Ferguson said. “We look forward to a long relationship together.” --This article was written by Deb Coates Bledsoe and provided courtesy of the Communications Office of the Union County Public Schools.
