JUST DO IT!!!! FIVE WAYS TO ADD VITALITY FOR 2018
by guest contributor Dr. Lisa A. Merritt
The holidays are over, but you may still not feel like yourself.
Feeling tired? Feeling anxious? Do you wish you had more energy
for 2018? Here are five ways to add ZEST to your life! It all starts
from working from within to make the outside sparkle!
1. MINDFULLNESS: Write a list today of your pros and cons
about yourself and your life. Prioritize the top two pros. Focus on
the triggers that block you from reaching your goals. Be realistic
of how you can move in the direction from the con to the pro
issues. Remember the Nike slogan, “JUST DO IT!” Put your foot in
the door and make baby steps each day.
2. BE THANKFUL: Everyday find something that you are
thankful for to start your day. Every few hours be cognizant of
the small things that brighten your day. These thoughts should
be breathed in deeply like a breath of fresh air! Breathe out the
worries fears, anxiety and dis-ease that’s pulling you down. DO
NOT BREATHE IT BACK IN! It’s like pollution!
3. VOLUNTEER: Give to others. Don’t over focus on yourself.
Giving to others gives you a natural endorphin feeling and lowers
your stress. Even making a compliment to someone comes from
a giving heart. However, don’t let giving to others hinder you
from your own needs. You need to take care of you, so you can
take care of others!
4. BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER: To be who
you want to be you need to be surrounded by other like-minded
people. Be a good influence and let others be a good influence on
you. A positive friendship encourages and inspires each other to
live a healthy life.
5. CHOOSE WISELY: Think before you do. Think of your
choices of foods, actions and thoughts. Don’t let an impulse occur
without thinking of the cause and effect. The craving for poor
quality foods should be a rarity. The lack of movement in your
body affects your musculoskeletal system and your metabolism.
Plan for the type of exercise that rejuvenates you. Don’t injure
yourself as a weekend warrior. Change your bad habits.
Our patients at our center seek our care from a holistic
approach. They desire a logical program that is proactive for
great health and longevity. A pattern of healthy instincts, healthy
thoughts and healthy actions make a happier and more fulfilling
2018!
BREATHING RELAXATION TECHNIQUE: Pick a PURE healing
color to visualize in this technique.
A. Improper breathing
decreases oxygen,
discourages healing and
can increase stress.
B. Slowly exhale worries
and toxins out of the body
with 5-8 second period
with the color as darker
and “polluted”.
C. Imagine a pure healing
color entering your breath
for 5-8 seconds long
filling the abdomen as the
balloon color.
D. Complete full inhalation
SLOWLY as the whole body
cleanses in the bathing
color with healthy healing
oxygen.
