Kensington ’ s Randy Hayes always willing to lend helping hand

The second recipient of the Union County Public Schools Employee of the Month award is known for coming to the rescue at his school .
Randy Hayes , lead custodian at Kensington Elementary School , was recognized on Tuesday , Dec . 6 , at the Board of Education meeting with the December Employee of the Month ( EOM ) award .
Kensington Elementary principal Dr . Rachel Clarke nominated Hayes , stating he not only demonstrates excellence in his overall work performance , but he also “ exemplifies the Kensington expectations of professionalism and collaboration .”
She said Hayes is known for “ coming to the rescue ” anytime there is a need at her school for assistance . She cited an example : the arrival of Mandarin teachers who arrived from China to teach at Kensington , stating Hayes volunteered to help bring donated furniture to their homes .
“ While Mr . Hayes is one of those quiet , laid-back professionals , he also exudes a joyful , positive attitude .” She said . “ He never frowns or backs down from a request . He ’ s always more than happy to help .”
Dr . Clarke said she nominated Hayes because he is a valuable part of her school , and a role model for everyone .
