Rowan Manufacturers Open Doors to 330 Students on Manufacturing Day
Henderson said the tours provide a look into
the many career paths that the manufacturing
sector has to offer. “This event was about
companies reaching tomorrow’s workforce
at an early age,” said Henderson. “We
wanted to open their minds to the world of
manufacturing and inspire them to take a
path that will lead them to a rewarding and
successful career.”
Manufacturing Day 2018 was
a huge success in Rowan
County with over 330 Rowan-
Salisbury students and school
staff exploring career option
and the role of manufacturing
in our community. The event
took place in early October.
Participants were able to visit
eleven manufacturing companies
including the following:
Custom Plastic Forming
Trelleborg
Blast-it-All
Chandler Concrete
Amrep
Agility
Fuel solutions
Power Curbers
Continental Structural Plastics
GemFab
Henkel
Dalmier Trucks
Mandy Milles, Career and Technical Education Director for Rowan-Salisbury
Schools organized many of the tours along with the assistance of Kendall
Henderson, Director of Business Services for the EDC. “We try to line up
all the different high schools to go to as many manufacturers as we could
throughout the week,” Mills said. “We’re trying to change the perception
that’s out there.”
