Bostian Elementary Bostian ' s media center and STREAM ( Science , Technology , Reading , Engineering , Arts , and Math ) Lab are busy hubs of innovative teaching and active learning for all grade levels ! Recent and upcoming activities include building Seuss City with makerspace items during Read Across America Week , learning about body systems and equivalent fractions with Legos , exploring forces and motion in Hot Wheels Speedometry stations , creating masterpieces with Osmo , using our giant pegboard for measuring area and perimeter , and much more !
Jesse Carson High & South Rowan High Jesse Carson High School student Devin Gay and South Rowan High student Josh Sifford were notified by the United States Military Academy at West Point that they have been selected to attend the West Point Summer Leadership Experience this summer . Both students are enrolled in the JROTC Academy at South Rowan High School .

This opportunity is available for high school juniors and offers them a week long experience of life as a cadet . The experience includes academic classes , military training and physical fitness training .

Shive Elementary
March 7th was Community Helper Day at Shive Elementary ! As students and parents arrived , they were greeted by Community Helpers in the car rider line and at the bus lot . These special helpers took time out of their busy schedule to visit and allow our students to thank them for all they do with a special breakfast in their honor .
A dream came alive for Emery Baker , a 4th grader at Shive Elementary School . Emery had a dream to build a ‘ Buddy Bench ’ on the Shive campus as a place for students to meet and build solid positive relationships . He shared this idea with his grandfather , Jim Duncan , and the rest is history ! Mr . Duncan and Jason Smith brought the materials together to build the bridge to many future friendships .
Overton Elementary In April , Overton Elementary participated in its first Film Festival at West Rowan High School . Students had the opportunity to experience West ’ s wonderful big screen and sound system . Awards for teacher ’ s choice , best motion picture , set design , costume design and marketing were presented . Overton Students ‘ dressed to impress ’ and walked the red carpet .

MAKE-UP DAYS *
Workdays , breaks and early release days may become student days if days are missed due to inclement weather . All days ( except Sunday ) between August 29 and June 9 , no matter how they are designated on the school calendar MAY become make-up days . Be advised the week of Spring Break ( April 2-5 ) is tentative and can be used as school make-up days . Any Saturday , particularly in January-April is subject to being changed to a school make-up day . Notice for make-up days may be short depending upon the timing and duration of the inclement weather . General statutes and State Board of Education policy concerning the school calendar will be followed . The make-up schedule will be announced as soon as possible after an inclement weather event has ended .
STUDENT EARLY RELEASE DAYS
Student Early Release Days : Students will be dismissed from school 2.5 hours earlier than the normal dismissal time . Lunch will be served before students dismiss . After school activities will begin at the regularly scheduled time .
