Message from Superintendent Dr. Lynn Moody
Extraordinary Education Every day (E3)
THIS IS OUR YEAR!
Rowan-Salisbury Schools is
On the Move!
As we prepare for the end
of our school year, this is a
time to reflect on all that has
been accomplished, continues
to be accomplished and will be
accomplished. It is exciting,
challenging and rewarding. As
‘they say,’ with any growth, there
are growing pains. But I am so
proud of our students and staff
that are facing this “turning of the
battleship” with anticipation as we
stay focused on doing what is best
for our students.
It was just a year ago that we launched our new logo and 3-year
Strategic Plan. We wasted no time in aggressively moving forward with:
n Creating a Literacy Framework, adding reading coaches, and aligning a
consistent reading program throughout our district as we focus on Literacy
n Repurposing funds, with board of education and county commission
approval, to place a laptop or iPad into the hands of every student in grades
3-12 – a critical tool for advanced teaching and learning
n Redesigning our classrooms and media centers into becoming
collaborative learning places so our students can engage with each other as
they become critical thinkers through personalized problem-based learning.
Totally cool, y fun!

through the Rowan County United Way’s ‘Day of Caring,’ that made great
strides in helping the district with this transformation. We will stay the course
in making this a reality for every child.
All of us are ecstatic to have achieved Accreditation for five more years.
