Rowan-Salisbury Teachers are Stanback Scholars
The STEM Master of Education program, a partnership with the Rowan-Salisbury Schools and Catawba College, is underway! Thanks to
the generosity of Fred Stanback, this master’s program is being offered to our teachers ~ tuition free. The program targets middle and high
school mathematics and science teachers in an effort to bring the learning back to students in our classrooms.
Through a selection process, nine teachers were identified to become the first cohort Stanback Scholars in our district. These teachers
met for the first time on January 12th to review the program, sign
an agreement, and to get to know each other as they begin this
exciting journey together. The Stanback Scholars are as follows:
Jeniffer Bain, Rowan County Early College
Jennifer Barbee, Corriher-Lipe Middle School
Jenna Bernard, Southeast Middle School
Crystal Brown, Knox Middle School
Cindy D. Miller, Corriher-Lipe Middle School
Angela Peterson, Erwin Middle School
Cristin Ritchie, Southeast Middle School
Aliyah Sloop, South Rowan High School
Jamesha Thomas, Knox Middle School
By becoming a Stanback Scholar, teachers agree to continue
teaching in our schools for five years. They are excited to be
students again and to bring back what they are learning almost
immediately to students in their classrooms.
Much appreciation to Catawba College for working closely with district administrators to make this opportunity possible for our RowanSalisbury teachers.
The Stanback Scholars began classes at Catawba College in January of this year.
