West Rowan High School Teacher
Joins N.C. Agricultural
Education Cohort

Jason Chester, teacher at West
Rowan High School, was recently
selected to join the 2013-2014 N.C.
Agricultural Education Cohort. Only 12
teachers across the state are asked to
join this cohort. Jason will receive quality
training in agricultural education and
utilize his leadership skills within this
cohort. All to benefit our students in the
classroom!

East Rowan High Student Nationally Recognized

East Rowan High student Jordan Owen has been selected to
be a member of the 2014 Army All-American Band by the National
Association of Music Education (NAME). Emily McNeil is the band
director. The announcement was made by the NAME Recognition
Committee at a special assembly at ERHS in November. Jordan
was one of 125 students selected from thousands of applicants.
The selection is based on the student’s audition & achievements
of: Musical and Marching talent, Academics, Leadership, and
Recommendations
from teachers and
principals. Jordan
plays the clarinet.

weeklong trip
to perform with
the All-American
Marching Band in
San Antonio, Texas
at the All-American
Football game
