Bostian Elementary Students “Get Active” During Carolina Panthers PLAY 60 Camp Bostian students in grades 2-5 learned about teamwork and the importance of physical activity. Carolina Panthers PLAY 60 Camp came to Bostian Elementary and inspired students to be physically active. Second through fifth grade students had a great time learning how to play like the “Big Cats” as they made their way through eight different stations that simulated an NFL training camp. Isenberg Elementary Students Honor Veterans Isenberg students honored local Salisbury Veterans during a special morning gathering in November. American heroes from American Legion 107 in Salisbury paraded through Isenberg’s hallways while students stood on the sidelines applauding their service. All four Comrades served during our nation’s war with Vietnam. They are US Army Veterans Comrade Homer Robinson, Comrade John Pharr, and Comrade Leonard Hall (Chaplain). A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Comrade Charlie Rankin, also participated. Comrade Rankin said, “You don’t know how much we enjoyed teaching the flag ceremony to the students.” To the Veterans, we at Isenberg say, “Thank you for your service!” 12 • January/February 2014 • Parent Teacher Magazine  Board Cork news Hanford Dole Honor Guard Visits North Rowan High Hanford Dole 5th grade students and librarian Suzanne Crockett visited the NRHS JROTC that is led by Colonel Tyron Eason to learn proper flag etiquette. The cadets worked with students and demonstrated the proper way to fold the flag, to lower and raise the US and NC Flags, and discussed the importance of this duty and what it represents. Hanford Dole students enjoyed and benefited from hearing what the North Rowan High seniors planned to do after graduation. NRHS JROTC gave HDES students a positive perspective of high school.
