Shive Elementary Students “Bee” Real in
Support of Local Firefighter
Ethan H. Shive Elementary School was
challenged at the beginning of the school year
to “bee” real... to “bee” who you are and to
“bee” the best we can be every day.
Shive 5th graders sponsored Firefighter
Larry Keith and his family upon learning
about the tragic loss of their home in a fire.
These dedicated and compassionate students
participate in a math-a-thin and a coin toss to
raise funds for the family. The Keith Family
was invited to a special day - complete with
banners, cards, smiles, and cheers - as
students presented the family with a check for
$2,200. Salisbury Chief Bob Parnell, Shive
Principal Zebbie Bondurant and RowanSalisbury Superintendent Dr. Lynn Moody
shared in the celebrations with the students,
teachers and assistants.
This experience bonded
the hearts of Shive family
and the Keith family.
Students learned that
they can make a positive
difference in the life of
those around us. They
plan to keep doing small
acts of kindness in hopes
to make our world a little
bit better of a place,
one child at a time, one
person at a time, and one
day at a time.

Landis Elementary School Enjoy’s
“Family Math Night”
Food Lion along with the Landis Elementary PTA sponsored a WONDERFUL
math night at the Landis Food Lion.
Close to 450 parents/students/staff members were present for this fun-filled night
of math. Food Lion provided math sheets for parents to interact with their students in
working to find the answers to many math questions. They also provided food, door
prizes and treat bags for the students. Lots of math learning for both students and
parents!
