Pleasant Ridge Elementary Math Fair Pleasant Ridge Elementary, home of our new Gifted and Talented Academy, held a Math Fair on November 28 to engage students in math and other subjects like science and technology. After a day of showing off their projects, students welcomed their parents to school for an evening time awards ceremony. It was a great program that combined learning with fun for all students. Board Cork news CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONS AGAIN! Once again, Cherryville High School has state championship cheerleaders. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams took first place in the Small Division II category at the N.C. High School Athletic Association competition. This is the fourth NCHSAA state title for coach Wendy Holt and her cheerleaders! CONGRATULATIONS to the five outstanding teachers who were named finalists for 2018-2019 Gaston County Teacher of the Year. The five finalists were announced yesterday. The winner will be revealed on Thursday, May 10 during our annual Evening of Excellence ceremony presented by Wells Fargo. The five finalists are: ▪ Carmin Adams, Belmont Central Elementary ▪ Karen Coffey, McAdenville Elementary ▪ Lori Collins, Highland School of Technology ▪ Tammy Holland, Robinson Elementary Congratulations to Riley Nichols of South Point High School … he was selected as the recipient of the 2017 High School Leadership Award presented by the Carolina Panthers. The award was created to honor a high school senior football player who demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
