Principals named at eight CMS schools
Board of Education approves roster at meeting July 10, 2014
Eight principals were named by CharlotteMecklenburg Schools July 10, filling vacancies
at elementary and middle schools for
the district. They were introduced by the
superintendent, Dr. Heath E. Morrison, at a
called meeting of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Board of Education.
Jessica Blanchard was named principal
at Matthews Elementary, joining CMS
from Union County where she has been an
elementary school principal since 2011.
Blanchard has also worked as an assistant
principal and fourth-grade teacher in Union
County and served as a literacy teacher and
lead teacher in that district. She holds a
bachelor’s degree in elementary education
and in reading education from Wingate
University in Wingate, N.C. and a master’s
degree in educational leadership from
Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. She has
also completed a global leadership program
at the University of North Carolina in Chapel
Hill and
