Electrolux donates $20,000 to Vance Academy of Engineering
CEO says company is ‘investing in the next generation of engineers’
Global appliance leader Electrolux opened a new research and development center in Charlotte March 27. Students were invited from Vance High School’s engineering
academy to see first-hand how engineering translates into the development and design of everyday household products.
The center will develop washer and dryer technology to improve cleaning and conserve resources, and adds 60 research and development jobs in Charlotte. The opening event
also marked the beginning of the school-business partnership between Electrolux and Vance.
“We are pleased to be investing in the next generation of engineers
in Charlotte,” said Jack Truong, president and CEO of Electrolux Major
Appliances North America
Vance will use the Electrolux gift to purchase robotic parts and
equipment, computer aided design technology, tablets and computers.
