Stretching beyond the classroom
Quail Hollow Middle teacher strikes a balance between yoga and art
It’s 7 a.m. and Kelsey Cash, a Quail Hollow
Middle art teacher, is setting up a class for 32
students. There are no easels, paints or brushes.
Instead, there are yoga mats, blocks and soothing
music. The students are arriving for Yogarteens,
a 10-week program that weaves messages of
inspiration and encouragement within a yoga
class, and includes an art project relating to those
messages.
Cash’s teaching skills have stretched beyond her
classroom with her newfound nonprofit Yogarteens.
She has been an art teacher at Quail Hollow for
seven years. Her love for yoga began in 2009. She
became a certified yoga instructor three years later.
