Superintendent Dr. Barry Shepherd Dear Parents, Teachers and Students: Since returning to school from the winter break, our students and staff have been very busy, and they continue to make me proud of their accomplishments and achievements in the classroom and in our community. In this issue, you’ll meet our district’s top speller – Joy Jackson, a 7th grader at Harris Road Middle School, and our first-ever Teacher Assistant of the Year Karen Gehrig from Harrisburg Elementary School. You also can share in our pride as we celebrate students whose knowledge, skills and abilities in the STEM arena have led them to compete in a national competition sponsored by the Verizon Foundation. Other points of pride included in this issue include: n Our ever-increasing graduation rate n Teachers nominated for national teaching awards n Students and staff named among the top authors in the state Thank you for being a part of the Cabarrus County Schools community.
