CCS Teachers Tops in the Region CCS Teachers Rock! Cabarrus County Schools teachers are ranked 1st in our region for effectiveness. The ratings, released by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, are based on a formula that gauges whether teachers met or exceeded goals for student growth. The report shows that 90.2% of CCS teachers either met or exceeded goals based on the formula. “Congratulations on a job well done,” said Superintendent Barry Shepherd. “We are extremely proud of the great work our teachers have done in the classroom and of the results that their work yields for our students.” To read more about the Teacher Effectiveness Data, visit the N.C. WHES Students Present Beauty & the Beast Weddington Hills Elementary School performed Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. on February 7th and 8th. Both performances were sold out. The cast of more than 70 third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students rehearsed twice a week for five months. The production consisted of 13 songs embedded in 14 scenes amidst the backdrops of a French town, an enchanted castle, a tavern, and a dark forest. Each student performed in a custom-designed costume created by parent volunteers led by Windy Sabin. A team of five teachers directed the show. This was Weddington Hills’ fourth musical production. The production was aided by donations and support from Lowes’ Home Improvement, Cabarrus Arena, Afton Tavern, Cabarrus County Schools, and others. Winkler Middle School participated in The Great Kindness Challenge in January. The Challenge began in 2011 in three California schools as a way to cre
