CCS Teachers Tops in the Region
CCS Teachers Rock!
Cabarrus County Schools teachers are
ranked 1st in our region for effectiveness.
The ratings, released by the North Carolina
Department of Public Instruction, are based
on a formula that gauges whether teachers
met or exceeded goals for student growth.
The report shows that 90.2% of CCS
teachers either met or exceeded goals based
on the formula.
“Congratulations on a job well done,”
said Superintendent Barry Shepherd. “We
are extremely proud of the great work our
teachers have done in the classroom and
of the results that their work yields for our
students.”

WHES Students Present
Beauty & the Beast
Weddington Hills Elementary School
performed Disney’s Beauty and the
Beast Jr. on February 7th and 8th. Both
performances were sold out.
The cast of more than 70 third-, fourth-,
and fifth-grade students rehearsed twice
a week for five months. The production
consisted of 13 songs embedded in 14
scenes amidst the backdrops of a French
town, an enchanted castle, a tavern, and
a dark forest. Each student performed in
a custom-designed costume created by
parent volunteers led by Windy Sabin. A
team of five teachers directed the show.
This was Weddington Hills’ fourth
musical production. The production was
aided by donations and support from
Lowes’ Home Improvement, Cabarrus
Arena, Afton Tavern, Cabarrus County
Schools, and others. Photos were taken by
Mike Dickerson of Six Cents Photography.
