HRMS Students Selected for Honors Chorus
Two Harris Road Middle School 8th grade
students have been selected for to participate in
North Carolina’s Middle School Honors Chorus.
Emma Moore and Brittney Pasquale will be
representing Cabarrus County Schools, as well as
Harris Road Middle in this year’s Honors Chorus.
This marks the 3rd year that Harris Road will
have members in the Honors Chorus.
Each year, the Middle School Honors Chorus
performs at the North Carolina Music Educator’s
In-Service Conference. This chorus provides an
opportunity for the very best singers from across
the state (grades 6-9)* to come together and work
with a nationally acclaimed choral conductor. This
year the chorus will be conducted by Dr. Al Sturgis.
The Honors Chorus will take place on November
9-10 in Winston-Salem. As in previous years, the
concert will be held in the Stevens Center.
Honors Chorus auditions are held in three
regions across the state: West, Central, and East.
Over 1,000 students audition for 175-member
choir. In order for students to audition for Honors Chorus, they must sing their voice part of a
selected audition piece. Students audition in front
of a single judge in a closed audition. They also
are required to sight-sing a short melodic exercise.
Only the top 15 percent of auditioned singers are
selected for this prestigious choir.
Congratulations to Emma and Brittney!
