Independence Blvd. | Charlotte NC City of Concord Mayor Scott Padgett visited students at R. Brown McAllister Elementary School recently to discuss the importance of citizens participating in our community in a variety of ways. The Mayor, whose presentation was interactive and interesting, taught the students that part of his job of governing was to make good decisions for the people of Concord. Because he was once a principal in Cabarrus County Schools, Mayor Padgett was able to connect the idea of leadership to the principal, who runs the school and makes decisions for the school, and how that’s similar to what he does as mayor. Students asked great questions, but Mayor Padgett had a few challenging questions of his own for R. Brown students and staff – questions like how many people live in Concord and how did Cabarrus County get its name? One student with a correct answer received a special prize from the Mayor.
