CCS Assistant Principal of the Year 2018-2019
Congratulations to Danielle Lucas, assistant principal at Royal
Oaks Elementary School, who has been selected as the 2018-2019
Assistant Principal of the Year for Cabarrus County Schools.
Congratulations, Ms. Lucas, our 2018-2019 CCS Assistant Principal of
the Year!
Lucas was surprised with this news at Royal Oaks
Elementary School on Friday, September 21st during
a staff meeting.
Lucas joined Cabarrus County Schools in 2011 as a
teacher at Carl A. Furr Elementary. In 2015, Lucas
became an Assistant Principal at Charles E. Boger
Elementary and moved to Royal Oaks Elementary
School as the Assistant Principal in 2018. Prior to
serving in Cabarrus County Schools, Lucas taught
elementary school in a neighboring district.
Lucas graduated with a bachelor’s degree from
Appalachian State University in elementary
education. She also earned a master’s degree in
reading education from the University of North
Carolina at Charlotte and a graduate certificate
in school administration from Appalachian State
University.
CCS assistant principals nominate and vote
among their peers for the Assistant Principal of
the Year Award based on a set of criteria. The top
candidates are then interviewed by a panel of district
administrators, and a winner is selected.

The construction of Hickory Ridge Elementary School is
officially underway! Members of the Cabarrus County Board
of Education hosted a ground breaking at the site of what
will be the district’s newest elementary school on Aug.
28th. Cabarrus County Commissioner Steve Morris, Cabarrus
County Manager Mike Downs and members of the Harrisburg
Town Council, as well as the architects attended the event.
The new elementary school is scheduled to open in August
2020.
