CCS Announced Assistant Principal of the Year Tara Butch, assistant principal of instruction at Harris Road Middle School (HRMS), was selected as the 2015-2016 Assistant Principal of the Year for Cabarrus County Schools.  Superintendent Chris Lowder and Assistant Superintendent Glenda Jones surprised Butch at the school on Sept. 22nd during a staff meeting.   Butch joined Cabarrus County Schools in 2012 as assistant principal of instruction at Harris Road. Her responsibilities include overseeing student instruction, as well as professional learning communities (PLCs) for the school’s teachers and new teacher and mentor support.   Prior to joining HRMS, Butch served as assistant principal at Forestview High School in Gaston County Schools and as a classroom teacher at Davidson Elementary School in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.   She earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Mount Union College and a master’s degree in school administration from Gardner-Webb University.   CCS assistant principals nominate candidates among their ranks for the Assistant Principal of the Year Award based on a set of criteria. CCS Superintendent Chris Lowder and KCS Superintendent Pam Cain shared the field along with our awesome partners from United Way and Belk to encourage game attendees to volunteer in schools, stress the importance of regular school attendance and illuminate the support United Way and its partner agencies provide to students and families in Cabarrus County. Belk is a long-time donor of uniforms for students, and this year, it will donate uniforms to Cabarrus County Schools. We thank them and United Way for their support.
