Students Attend Hispanic Educational Summit sessions throughout the day in addition to listening to two keynote speakers. Below are a few of the sessions students chose to attend:   n My School: My Wellbeing and Responsibility (presented in Spanish) n The Power of Bilingualism in Education and Work Immigration Options for Youth n Taking Control of Your Life by Being Totally Engaged n Design Your World: Become a Landscape Architect n Take Control: Discover the Champion Within You (presented in Spanish) n How to Build Your Professional Career in Construction n Becoming a Civil Engineer: Opportunities and Challenges   Students actively participated in all workshops. During the exhibit, students picked up additional information about local colleges, financial aid, and scholarships. Students also visited N.C. State University after the summit. Cabarrus County Schools students participated in the Hispanic Educational Summit held in Raleigh on March 31st. Eight CCS schools were represented: Concord Middle, Northwest Cabarrus Middle, Winkler Middle, Central Cabarrus High, Concord High, Cox Mill High, Jay M. Robinson High and Mount Pleasant High. Students were nominated to attend the event by ESL teachers and school counselors. Twenty- nine students participated and eighteen of the students served as volunteers.   Adela Henry, Spanish teacher at Robinson, Joel Matthews, Math teacher at Robinson, and six Robinson students presented a session at the summit titled Preparing for College to a group of 7th and 8th graders. Students shared their high school experience and “lessons learned” while presenting in both English and Spanish.   Students had the opportunity to attend a variety of educational WE MAKE YOUR SMART KID EVEN SMARTER!
