BES Wins at Fire & Life Safety Bowl
Bethel Elementary School won first place in the 2017 Cabarrus County Fire & Life Safety Bowl . This is the 4th year in a row that Bethel has won first place ! The Fire & Life Safety Bowl is put on by Cabarrus County Fire & Rescue and includes multiple local sponsors . Teams that placed will advance to the State Fire & Life Safety Bowl on April 27th .

WHES Named National School of Distinction
RBMES Holds Pennies for Pasta Event
R . Brown McAllister held a schoolwide Pennies for Pasta event raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society . Students and staff raised more than $ 3,800 over the course of two weeks ! The class that raised the most money won a pasta party at Olive Garden . Congratulations to Mrs . Harvey ’ s class for raising $ 659.07 !
Weddington Hills Elementary School has been named a National Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America . Magnet Schools of America is the national association for magnet and theme-based schools .
To receive a national merit award , a school must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators . Schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement , promote racial and socioeconomic diversity , provide integrated curricula and instruction , and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school ’ s magnet theme .

PSRES Wins Sumdog Math Competition
Students from Pitts School Road Elementary School came out on top at the county Sumdog math competition ! Out of 582 students who participated in the math challenge , fourth grader Krish Patel was the overall individual district winner . Mrs . Valerie Price ’ s math class also placed first in the district out of 58 classes that entered the competition . Congratulations , Panthers !
CHS Juniors Organize Chess Tournament
Four Concord High School IB juniors coordinated a Spring Chess Tournament for Cabarrus County Schools fifth graders . Colt Haas , Lucas Plott , Nathan Suri and Jason Zhou coached chess clubs over the past six months culminating in a twenty-four student competition on Saturday , April 1st . Hosted at Coltrane- Webb STEM Elementary , students represented the home school as well as Harrisburg Elementary and Weddington Hills Elementary . Congratulations to the 2017 Spring Chess Tournament winners !

Students Raise Money for American Heart Association
Odell Primary ’ s Jump Rope for Heart event was a huge success . Students raised more than $ 6,000 for the American Heart Association ! Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraising and physical activity program based around skipping . It teaches children how to keep fit and healthy , all while having fun and raising vital funds for heart disease research and education .
