CCS Observes Donate Life Month
During the
month of April,
Cabarrus County
Schools joined with
others around the
nation to observe
National Donate
Life Month (NDLM).
Throughout the
month, Americans
were encouraged to
register as organ,
eye and tissue
donors and to
celebrate those who
have saved lives through the gift of donation.
An outgrowth of the celebratory month was the Flags Across
America initiative that began in 2009. It honors and celebrates
the hundreds of thousands of donors and recipients whose lives
have been affected by organ, eye and tissue donation. The
initiative rallies every donor hospital and transplant center to
collectively fly the Donate Life flag during the month of April.
Cabarrus County Schools proudly displayed a Donate Life flag
in front of the Education Center. This flag served as a visible and
unified statement about the importance of donation and reflects
the dire need for donors.

Patriots STEM Hosts Science Night
As part
of the NC
Science
Festival,
Patriots
STEM
Elementary
recently
celebrated
its inaugural
Duke Energy
Science
Night.
More
than 200
families
came to
participate in interactive, hands-on and engaging science and
math activities. Families built bridges, programmed robots, held
cold-blooded creatures, got messy with goo and studied kinetic
and potential energy with Hot Wheels among many other
exciting activities.
STEM Coach Brenda Eason described the night as “a
meaningful night for all family members. Parents were
amazed as they watched their children use math, science, and
engineering concepts!”
To go along with the night, families shared pictures of their
families with Patriots staff members on social media.
Principal Steven Bookhart stated, “The night was a great
opportunity for all of our families to have fun doing STEM
activities. We are always looking for ways to share our STEM
program with the community.”
