HRHS Students Help HES Students Register Now for Classes! Students enrolled in Honors Speech and Debate at Hickory Ridge High School have developed a connection with the students at Harrisburg Elementary School. Earlier in the school year, the high school students visited the 3rd and 5th grade AIG groups and conducted workshops on public speaking. Teachers Melanie Elicker of HRHS and Lindsay Wescoe of HES decided to bring the students together again to help the younger students prepare for their Junior Achievement BizTown interviews. JA BizTown is a simulation of the circular flow of economy. It fits along with the 5th grade curriculum that covers financial literacy. At BizTown, the 5th grade students must interview for a “job” to fulfill a role during the simulation. The high school students led the interviews and helped the teachers “employ” the students, practicing vital 21st century interview skills before they step into the workforce themselves.
