News segment ! Ann Marie ’ s students at Mount Pleasant Elementary created a Gallery of Gratitude . The Gallery highlighted original drawings of students ’ favorite teacher and why they are thankful for them .

SRO First in County to Complete Program
Brian Heintz , School Resource Officer at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School completed the School Resource Officer Certificate Program ! Brian is the first in the county to complete the program , which is designed specifically for School Resource Officers who have a desire to increase their training experiences and credentials . Congratulations , Officer Heintz !
CCS Teacher Featured Nationally
Emily Francis , CCS Teacher of the Year 2016 and ESL ( English as a Second Language ) teacher at W . M . Irvin Elementary School , was recently featured in People Magazine . Her story was so impactful that she was also invited to be a guest on The Ellen Degeneres Show ! During the show , Chobani surprised Emily by generously donating $ 100,000 to W . M . Irvin Elementary School .

CMHS Athlete Selected as McDonald ’ s All-American Game Nominee
McDonald ’ s unveiled the list of high school seniors nominated for the chance to play in the 41st annual All American Games . The list , comprised of more than 700 top boys and girls basketball players from across the country , will be used by the Games ’ Selection Committee to identify the top 24 boys and 24 girls to play in the annual event .
This year ’ s All-American games will be played on March 28th at Philips Arena in Atlanta , GA . Congratulations , Leaky !
King of the Court Efforts Awarded
Cabarrus County Schools King of the Court representatives were honored at the annual Northeast Foundation Celebration Dinner on Tuesday , Feb . 6th . Individuals from the top fundraising schools attended the event to represent their student body . The Foundation recognized students and the annual King of the Court event for raising more than $ 75,000 in donations !
