HRHS Student’s Dream Comes True Students Shop with the Panthers HRHS student Ne’Quan Deas received a special surprise on Friday, Dec. 4th, as his school teamed up with Dream On 3 (DO3) for a signature VIP sendoff during a school-wide pep rally. Thanks to Dream on 3 and HRHS, Deas and his family are headed to Nashville to attend a Tennessee Titans football game! The pep rally celebrated Ne’Quan and served as the springboard to making his NFL-sized dream come true. Earlier this year, Dream On 3 approached Hickory Ridge High School about participating in a pilot program called Junior Dream Team. Excited about this opportunity, HRHS assembled a team of eight high school students who worked with DO3 to help make their fellow classmate’s wildest sports dream come true. The team selected Deas with the goal of providing him with a memory that would last a lifetime and to let him know that his fellow classmates, and the entire HRHS community, are ready to get in the huddle with him. Through numerous school fundraisers – a talent show, a pancake breakfast and t- shirt sales using the simple slogan Dream On For Ne’Quan – the Junior Dream Team raised $8000.00 to help make Ne’Quan’s dream a reality. Dream On 3 was founded in 2012. Its vision is a “community united in making dreams come true” for some very special local children. The organization has received overwhelming support from the healthcare community, the sports community, and Cabarrus County Schools along with many other national organizations for their attention to this population of special needs children. Thirty students from A.T. Allen Elementary School received a special surprise – a $200 holiday shopping spree with members of the Carolina Panthers! The students spent the morning shopping on Dec 8th at Academy Sports & Outdoors store near Concord Mills with Carolina Panthers Ed Dickson, A.J. Klein, Mike Tolbert, Brad Nortman, Dean Marlowe, Kurt Coleman and Shaq Thompson. Members of the Top Cats and the Women of the Panthers also joined the players to help students make their selections. Special thanks to United Way Central Carolinas- Cabarrus County for helping to arrange this wonderful event for our students. And of course, THANK YOU to Academy Sports and to the Carolina Panthers for their generosity!
