CHS Students Build Mock Stadium Students from Concord High School’s carpentry and sports and entertainment marketing classes participated in the Ultimate High School Stadium Build contest sponsored by the Carolina Panthers and Duke Energy. The competition included students from 11 other high schools in North Carolina and South Carolina. Their mission: To build an on-campus football stadium that seats 70,000 fans. Students were challenged to incorporate school spirit and traditions into the overall design and to use their science, technology, engineering, math and creativity skills. The CHS stadium design is energy efficient with solar panels on the roof that powers everything in the stadium and a back-up generator that runs on biodiesel fuel. The stadium also features a jumbo-tron screen, television monitors in the restrooms so fans won’t miss a second of the action, a ‘fan cam,’ and a kids’ fun zone. All of the designs were displayed at Discovery Place in uptown Charlotte in November. A photo gallery that shows the students’ progress throughout the design and building process can be found at Cabarrus County Active Living & Parks Discovery Day Camp @ Friske Liske Park! 704.920.2702 Looking for a fun and educational opportunity for your child?
